Futurism began in Italy in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and later spread to Russia. Futurism began with a manifesto brought upon by Marinetti, called "The Founding and Manifesto of Futurism." This experimental movement used combinations of unexpected images and used the least amount of words possible to write poetry while bringing out a great meaning from the words. Even in theater, Futurists played scenes that had sentences
that packed-a-punch but also were short in length. Futurist playwrights many a
time wrote parodies of traditional to create humor. Very few Futurists ever
wrote books due to them being to long and not complying with the speed and
compression of Futurist work. Futurists focused on intuition, analogy, irony,
metrical reform, onomatopoeia, essential lyricism, and the prohibition of syntax.
